Writing Assignments

You’ll choose an artwork to focus on this semester and you will become an expert on it by the end. You’ll write about this one art piece in multiple formats. We’ll have a couple of short, in-class writing exercises early on. Outside of class, you’ll write two other papers: 1) a visual analysis (2-3 pages) of your art object and 2) a research paper (3-4 pages) about the same artwork. We’ll make a trip to the library together and learn about how to research artworks. As you work toward your research paper, you’ll need to find and send me (2) sources related to your artwork as a works cited page (worth 4 points), and also send an outline of your research paper ahead of time (worth 5 points).

All papers can be submitted on Blackboard before class time on the due date. For all, use: Times New Roman font, size 12, double spaced with 1” margins. When you use any sources outside of your own ideas, you will need to cite them properly using MLA or Chicago style. All assignment details will be available on Blackboard.
